After the event CZECH CENTERS- ANIMAYO STOP MOTION SPECIAL EDICION held on July 4, 2020. The event reached more than 600,000 people on social networks and more than 20,000 visits in digital media from the international press, totaling more than 37,000 views on virtual programming.

The program had 7 international speakers and included 1 master class, and a panel in which some of the highest representatives of this technique participated, in addition to the presentation, by its director, of the film Daughter, nominated for the Oscars® 2020 and screenings of classic and contemporary cinema in Stop Motion, with some of the best works from the prestigious FAMU school.

Special guests at the event included Tereza Brdečková (Czech Republic), journalist, film critic, novelist and screenwriter; Martin Vandas (Czech Republic), producer of stop motion cinema; Daphne Rosenthal (Netherlands), visual artist and experimental filmmaker; Luca Raffaelli (Italy); screenwriter and specialist in comics and animation; Patricia Ortiz Martínez (Spain), art and animation director; Tami Berenstein (Israel), international animation and documentary director, concept artist, animator and illustrator; and Daria Kashcheeva (Czech Republic), animation director.

The Czech Republic is, without a shadow of doubt, one of the European countries where the production of stop motion films has most flourished. Czech animation cinema began to thrive after the end of the Second World War, becoming a great way to subtly express feelings and ideas through art. Famous across the world and always heavily featured at international festivals, Czech animation film is in a very good state of health, with a prolific production of artistic short films.

As in previous editions, the Czech Centre of Madrid and Animayo have joined forces to develop specials by classical artists of the ilk of Jiří Barta, Jan Švankmajer, Jiří Trnka and Karel Zeman; and more contemporary artists such as Michaela Pavlátová, Jakub Červenka, Galina Miklínová and Aneta Zabková, among others.

The Czech Centres are a network for promoting culture around the world. This year’s stop motion festival featured the Czech Centre Brussels, Czech Centre Madrid, Czech Centre Paris, Tsjechisch Centrum Nederland, Τσεχικό Κέντρο Αθήνα / Czech Centre Athens, Czech Centre Tel Aviv, Czech Centre Rome, Český dům Moskva / Czech House Moscow, as well as the Embassies of the Czech Republic in Colombia, Spain and Italy, the CzechTourism, and the school FAMU International Prague, Národní filmový archiv, MAUR film and Congo Films School.
