Una ponencia explicativa, desde la experiencia, acerca de cómo hacer cine sin grandes estudios de animación y sin contar con financiación del gobierno; y qué es lo que hace independientes a los artistas independientes.
En esta Master Class Signe Baumane nos hablará de su trabajo y experiencia como artista independiente.

SIGNE BAUMANE 
"Como directora de cine siempre tengo ansias de publico entusiasta por mis películas y para los ciclos que soy comisaria, y en Animayo mis ansias fueron saciadas - el festival cuenta con muchos colaboradores y audiencia, casi cada proyección, actividad, taller tenían las entradas agotadas y quería llorar de alegría. Un sitio idóneo para aprender más sobre procesos de animación, encontrar celebridades de animación y ver obras maestras internacionales."
Signe nació en Letonia y fue educada en Moscú. Es licenciada en Filosofía.
Aunque es escritora desde los 14 años, la filosofía ha inspirado a Signe para contar historias animadas. Ella comenzó a trabajar en “Riga's Animated Film Studio” en la posición más baja – “cell painter”. En pocos años se ganó suficiente experiencia para escribir, dirigir y diseñar 3 cortos animados que fueron reconocidos en el círculo de festivales internacionales. De esta forma Signe ganó una buena reputación como nueva directora de animación en Letonia.
En busca de desafíos más fuertes, Signe dejó Riga en 1995 y se fue a Nueva York, donde comenzó a trabajar en el estudio de animación independiente de Bill Plympton. En poco tiempo adquirió experiencia suficiente en el salvaje capitalismo del cine para empezar a producir una película por su cuenta y en 2002 dejó el estudio de Plympton para levantar su propio pequeño estudio.
Desde su llegada a Nueva York ha producido y co-producido, escrito, dirigido y diseñado más de 14 cortos de animación independientes. Signe también ha continuado su colaboración con el estudio de animación de Letonia - Rija Films, donde dirigió 2 de sus propias historias a partir de 1995, y Pierre Poiré Producciones que produjo sus películas de mayor éxito "Beat pezón del sexo" y "Birth".
Sus películas se han proyectado en festivales tan prestigiosos como el de Annecy, Tribeca, Sundance, Berlín, Ottawa, Venecia y han recibido numerosos premios.
Signe es miembro de la Academia de las Artes y las Ciencias y miembro de la Fundación de Cine de Nueva York para las Artes.
Además de su propia carrera Signe también está interesada en promover el trabajo de otros artistas.Ella programa series de festivales de cine en EE.UU.
La animación es una pasión para Signe, así como un estilo de vida.

Aunque es escritora desde los 14 años, la filosofía ha inspirado a Signe para contar historias animadas. Ella comenzó a trabajar en “Riga's Animated Film Studio” en la posición más baja – “cell painter”. En pocos años se ganó suficiente experiencia para escribir, dirigir y diseñar 3 cortos animados que fueron reconocidos en el círculo de festivales internacionales. De esta forma Signe ganó una buena reputación como nueva directora de animación en Letonia.
En busca de desafíos más fuertes, Signe dejó Riga en 1995 y se fue a Nueva York, donde comenzó a trabajar en el estudio de animación independiente de Bill Plympton. En poco tiempo adquirió experiencia suficiente en el salvaje capitalismo del cine para empezar a producir una película por su cuenta y en 2002 dejó el estudio de Plympton para levantar su propio pequeño estudio.
Desde su llegada a Nueva York ha producido y co-producido, escrito, dirigido y diseñado más de 14 cortos de animación independientes. Signe también ha continuado su colaboración con el estudio de animación de Letonia - Rija Films, donde dirigió 2 de sus propias historias a partir de 1995, y Pierre Poiré Producciones que produjo sus películas de mayor éxito "Beat pezón del sexo" y "Birth".
Sus películas se han proyectado en festivales tan prestigiosos como el de Annecy, Tribeca, Sundance, Berlín, Ottawa, Venecia y han recibido numerosos premios.
Signe es miembro de la Academia de las Artes y las Ciencias y miembro de la Fundación de Cine de Nueva York para las Artes.
Además de su propia carrera Signe también está interesada en promover el trabajo de otros artistas.Ella programa series de festivales de cine en EE.UU.
La animación es una pasión para Signe, así como un estilo de vida.
